Hotel Indigo Chester review
Welcome to Hotel Indigo Chester
The Hotel Indigo staff are known for their friendly manner, and Chester was no different. I was greeted with a big smile, and they asked me how my day was and if I needed help planning my activities. The receptionist confirmed my dinner reservation, booked me in for breakfast, and handed me my room key card.
The foyer has a collection of bright blue and green quilted armchairs with cushions in nature-inspired patterns. Gray paneled walls lead guests to the bar and restaurant The Forge on the right, and to the room elevators on the left. The old style gray 'lifts' are a great feature, the design being in keeping with the contemporary heritage feel of the property.
Comfortable bedrooms at Hotel Indigo Chester
There are three bedroom styles that reflect the city's heritage – the Eastgate clock, the racecourse and the local architecture. The chivalry theme in my room was evident even before I entered the bedroom. The door is decorated with a stirrup-shaped knocker with The Paddock written on it.
The huge bedroom is decorated in green and neutral racing colours, and artwork celebrating Chester Racecourse. The frames featured horses, roses and the number 1539, the year the racetrack was built.
A gray chaise longue sits at the foot of the large Hypnos bed, which is dressed in luxurious Egyptian cotton linens. The 46-inch flat screen TV is designed for the best after-dinner movie night. I was seriously in my happy place. I couldn't be more comfortable. Leather harnesses above the headboard, wood-paneled walls, rustic side tables, and pillows continued the horsey vibe.
The wardrobe was designed to reflect a stable door, and inside was a delicate white dress and slippers to make you feel at home. The tea making area is hidden on the right side of the wardrobe behind a sliding wooden door. There was a Nespresso coffee machine, a kettle with a selection of teas in a wooden box, with biscuits and popcorn for snacks. The fridge contains soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and milk from a local dairy in Delamere.
British companies used in the production of tea, coffee and snacks were clearly chosen specifically for them Sustainable policies He explains that Hotel Indigo chooses its suppliers carefully.
The room had some comfortable brown chairs, and a writing desk with a mirror that could also be used as a dressing table.
The spa-inspired bathroom was tiled in elegant chevron tiles and had a powerful rain shower. Zenology Refillable Cosmetics are refreshing products – a great choice because they are eco-friendly and free of artificial colors.
Dinner at Chester's Forge
The Forge is the brainchild of Michelin chef and restaurateur, Mike Robinson, whose concept is the British dining experience from field to table. He owns three other places, and has dined there Lumberjack located in Hotel Indigo Stratford-upon-AvonI knew I was in for a gastronomic treat.
Robinson runs his own game on local properties and is known as one of the best game chefs in the world. His wild produce philosophy means that menus are seasonal and can therefore vary throughout the year. the Current list It can be watched online if the element of surprise is too much.
I was seated in a booth, and as a solo traveler, this meant I was experiencing all the action of the open kitchen and lively atmosphere of the busy restaurant.
For meat eaters, the refrigerated cabinets hold a selection of steak cuts to choose from. I chose to start with a three-course Scottish mackerel dish, with Welsh lamb as the main course. The forced Yorkshire rhubarb with ginger crumble and burnt cream was heavenly.
Whatever the dish, great attention is paid to high-quality ingredients, and each course is exquisitely presented.
Breakfast at Hotel Indigo Chester
Breakfast is served in the same restaurant, and after a delicious evening meal at The Forge, I had high hopes.
Tea and coffee are served when you sit down, ready for your return from the continental buffet. The breakfast table offers a wide variety of items including fresh baked pastries, breads, cereals, fruits, sliced cured meats, cheese, yogurt, muffins and cereal bars. Porridge is available upon request, but the buffet was enough for me!
Breakfast includes a hot dish, and options range from Full English to Eggs Florentine or Smashed Avocado. I was tempted by Eggs Royale, which was a treat for my taste buds.
