TARANGIRE NATORAL PARK Park may not have acknowledge the same name as Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crate, but it keeps it as one of the most wildlife destinations in Tanzania. Through its vast natural scenery, towering boubab trees, and abundant wildlife, Tarangire is a must for safari lovers looking for something unique on the northern garden circuit.
We visited Tarangire on the first day of our Tanzanian safari. It was close enough to Arosha, a logistics center in northern Tanzania, to get a one -day trip but far away to create a morning trip to Ngorongoro the next day.
Giants land
TARANGIRE is famous for the inhabitants of the huge elephants. During the drought season, thousands of elephants migrate to the garden, benefiting from the Tarangire River, which becomes a lifeline in the arid landscape. It is common to see large herds-sometimes up to more than 300 people-on the banks of the river, dust baths, or engaging in fun reactions.
Tarangy was home to some of our favorite elephant meetings. Severe swimming pool presented wide stadiums and clay basins. We noticed a single herd for more than an hour that contained many children from their mothers.
Iconic Popp trees
A few amazing tourist attractions such as the old Popp trees scattered via Tarangir. These giants of the plant world can live for thousands of years and have been working as a decisive source of water for wildlife during the dry season. It is known that the elephants that store the thick water Pubab, and the elephants strip the bark to reach moisture inside.
We visited Tarangire immediately after the first rains in October, so Baobab trees started to go out. One of the largest Baobabs is located in Tanzania directly at the entrance gate and always appears to have one or two tribal men in Masai ready to put a small party. However, the most interesting trees for us are the ones that the fishermen has caused to form a shelter.
TARANGIRE River: Lifestyle in the Drought Season
During the drought season in Tanzania (from June to October), many water sources dry, but the Tarangy River is still flowing, withdrawing in an amazing variety of wildlife. This natural magnet of animals makes Tarangire one of the best places in Tanzania to watch the game, with everything from big cats to the small Dick Dick collection on its banks.
Our guide, Kathbert, said that the levels of the river were decisive to visit Tarangy. From September to November, animals are still collected by water sources. When the rain comes, animals are dispersed, and the roads are definitely muddy on the bottom.
Predator Stadium
While Tarangire is famous for elephants, it is home to a group of flourishing predators. Black, leopards, and leopards chase herbal lands, taking advantage of the high concentration of prey. Black is often seen in Tarangir and is resting under trees or climbing to branches – a behavior that is more commonly associated with the tiger.
We haven’t seen any large meat animals on our visit, but we saw many signs in the area that highlights the lions of the climbing of trees in Maneara. One thing is certain: Never forget to see your first lion in the wild.
A haven for rare antelope
One of the things that distinguishes Tarangire from other Tanzanian gardens is the presence Rare types of antelope. The optimized ORYX visitors may discover the margin, the larger and less Kudu, and GERENUK for a long time, which has been on its background to reach the leaves from the trees. These unique species make Tarangire a great destination for wildlife lovers looking to see something different.
We have seen Oryx and Kudus during our visit, but we missed the vision of Gerenuk feeding on its back legs. There is always a reason to return to Tarangire.
The largest concentration of African snake
Tarangire is one of the few places in East Africa, where you have an opportunity to see African rocks In the wild. It is known that these huge, unavoidable snakes climb trees and can sometimes be monitored in the branches, pending the ideal opportunity to remove the prey.
We haven’t seen any snake in the trees, but we saw a great screen lizard floating over a small pool. Our guide should have a sixth feeling of the discovery of animals because it was not possible to find it alone. We had time enough to take pictures – Lol.
Birdwatcher Paradise
With more 550 types of birds, Tarangire is a dream destination for bird lovers. From the colored cylinder that was chest to the huge ostriches and amazing yellow love birds, the park provides great opportunities to monitor birds. Seams and seasonal swamps attract water birds, while Raptors such as combat eagles rise above the plains.
We liked to see water birds, such as spoons of spoons and spoons, we find their meals in the shallow basins that collected the rains of the first season.
The mysterious swamp
Silale Swamp is a hidden jewel inside Tarangire that provides an oasis of green in a dry landscape. During the wet season, it turns into vast wet lands filled with river mares, Waterbuck, and Sanq. Even during the dry season, the swamp carries enough moisture to attract large numbers of buffalo and elephants that seek to obtain relief from heat.
We have spent enough time in Everglades and Cypress Swamps in the south to know that the swamps get bad rap music. It is an incredibly varied biological and a basic link in the ecosystem. According to our guide, the visit window for the Silale swamp is relatively narrow because as soon as the water is filled, the roads become particularly muddy. One thing that must be remembered about all national parks is that they exist for animals as they visit them, and animals flourish in these large, wet, protected lands.
Night safari trips: a different perspective
Unlike many other Tanzanian parks, TARANGIRE offers night safari flights, allowing visitors to try the night side of the African bush. With lights that illuminate darkness, you may face outgoing creatures like Aardvarks, Genets and Bush Babies. Predators such as leopards and black are more active after sunset, making exciting night game engines.
TARANGIRE offers many different safari trips, including Safaris Walking and Palloon Safaris. They even have camps where visitors remain during the night in primitive tents. We saw walking trips and stopped in a camp for lunch. For us, we thought that a luxurious camp with Masai guards was sufficient for a night adventure.
Small migration is less famous
Most people connect great migration with SERENGETI, but TARANGIRE has its own version. During the drought season, thousands of brutal red, bilipest and Boufalo migrated to the park in search of water. Although it is not famous like Sirinigite migration, this movement of animals creates the chances of watching a wonderful wildlife.
Why does Tarangire deserve more appreciation
Despite the amazing biological diversity and unique landscape, TARANGIRE is still somewhat overwhelmed by the most famous gardens in Tanzania. Whether you are attracted by elephants, towering Baobabs, or an opportunity to see a rare wildlife, Tarangire National Park is a place that leaves a permanent impression on anyone lucky enough to visit.
We have found a great logistical suitable for a multi -day safari and we have seen many visitors on daily trips from the largest cities, including school groups. How wonderful is going on a safari trip for a classroom? This is the essence of the dream of African safari, where the places that you visited only become in your imagination.
