Former President Donald Trump has confirmed that Melania's mother Amalia Knavs, 78, is “very ill” and that the situation is “difficult” for her family as the former first lady missed New Year's Eve celebrations.
He told a crowd of fans at a New Year's Eve party at his Mar-a-Lago home that Melania was absent because she was currently at her mother's side in a nearby hospital.
“I hope she recovers,” the former president said after mentioning that he had just gotten off the phone with Melania, who is in a Miami hospital with her sick mother.
“It's hard, very hard,” Trump continued, saying that Melania was “sending her love” to all the people gathered in Palm Beach, Florida.
“She knows about 95 percent of the people in this room,” he said, drawing cheers from partygoers, according to a video taken by a participant and posted on X.
The New Year's Eve celebration included entertainment provided by Vanilla Ice, who performed her greatest songs on stage while Trump stood motionless behind his chair in the middle of the hall.
This will sadden Trump haters who rejoiced in the fact that Melania was not in the family photo this Christmas.
