A former Ugandan Olympian has been stabbed to death in Kenya.
Long-distance runner Benjamin Kiplagat was found with stab wounds inside his brother's car Sunday morning on the outskirts of Eldoret, a town 163 miles west of Nairobi, a local official said.
“This was a murder, but we don’t know the motive at the moment,” said Stephen Okal, a police chief from nearby Moybin.
The three times Olympic She specialized in the 3000 meter steeplechase and reached the semi-finals at the 2012 London Olympics.
He also represented Uganda at the 2008 and 2016 Olympics and six World Athletics Championships.
Athletics Kenya Official Barnabas Korir praised the athlete, saying: “We urge the police to speed up investigations and… prosecute his killers.”
