The Seattle Seahawks missed the playoffs for only the fourth time under Pete Carroll, but the second time in three seasons. Although there has been no major indication that the Seahawks will part ways with the most successful coach in franchise history, Ian Rapoport has revealed that Carroll's contract is only guaranteed through the 2024 season, with a 2025 option available to be exercised by the organization.
After the team's 21-20 win over the Arizona Cardinals, Carroll commented very briefly on whether or not he would still be coaching the team next season. It's important to note the “at this point” part of the answer.
Rapoport's article noted that Seattle ownership will “evaluate and update contingency plans should coach Pete Carroll, now 72, decide to leave.”
Carroll is supposed to host his Monday morning radio show on Seattle Sports Channel 710 to go into more detail, but for perhaps the first time since his arrival in 2010, there is absolutely no guarantee that Pitt is the Seahawks' head coach for next season.
