    • AI isn't the only technology that will change the job market in 2024.
    • Many tech jobs are likely to lose some of their importance in the coming years, but new opportunities are emerging as well.
    • Data science, blockchain technology, and cybersecurity are likely to remain some of the most in-demand skills in 2024.

The past year has been challenging for many technology professionals. There were a series of layoffs in both large and small companies, and thousands of people lost their jobs.

Google, Meta, Disney, Apple, Microsoft, Zoom, Nike, Hasbro, Amazon and other companies involved in the technology space have laid off employees in the past year.

However, “despite recent headlines involving layoffs at major companies, technology jobs remain among the most in-demand jobs in the job market,” according to Richard Wahlquist, CEO of the American Staffing Association, in an interview with CNBC.

The reason for this is that although some existing technical roles are losing importance, there are also emerging areas where the demand for workers is increasing. For example, in the past two years, demand for AI professionals has increased by more than 50 percent.
