    US drone technology company PrecisionHawk has declared bankruptcy

    PrecisionHawk has had customers in a variety of industries, including agriculture, energy, and communications. Some of its applications in agriculture, for example, have included counting crops, measuring plant health, and maximizing yield.

    Founded in 2010, PrecisionHawk has grown rapidly in the past decade completing a series of successful financing rounds. Customers included utility providers and agricultural companies, which relied on PrecisionHawk drones to capture data and analyze results.

    Amazing changes

    From 2015 to 2017, it was headed by Bob Young, co-founder of software giant Red Hat. Four years ago, the company moved from North Raleigh to Glenwood South, where it employed nearly 100 people by the end of 2019.

    PrecisionHawk has already gone through big changes this year. In March, it replaced its CEO, Jim Norrod. A few weeks later, it was announced that PrecisionHawk had been acquired by Norwegian company Field Group. Despite the acquisition, PrecisionHawk has pledged to remain headquartered in Raleigh.
