chorion is the latest LP by Chinese experimental artist Yikii, following 2021's EP The Scarlet Poem The Scarlet Poem. Blending contemporary classicism with video game composition, the record is named after the membrane that ultimately forms part of the placenta. In theory, it is derived from science fiction writer Andy Weir's short story “The Egg,” which follows the experience of a man on the threshold of reincarnation. on chorionwhich features material collected by Yikii between 2018 and 2021, “the idea of whether we are ‘every human being who ever lived’ is presented less as a question and more as an indisputable fact,” according to the album’s bio.

Corey Reeder, a composer and performer based in Denton, Texas, has released a new album, snowVia Sawyer Editions, a label specializing in contemporary, experimental and improvised music. Besides Reeder on piano, the record features Maren Major on violin, Colin Stokes on cello, and Benjamin Dammann on percussion. Its Bandcamp description quotes Louise Glück's “Winter Journey”: “This is the line between / It's like / This line from which our words emerge; / Moonlight bursts. / Shadows on the snow / Cast by the pines.”
