A new theme park in Punta Cana is finally set to open next month. The family-friendly attraction will add more to offer to the already popular Caribbean region. With shops, rides, restaurants, and more, Punta Cana is becoming more and more attractive to families looking for a fun getaway!
Travel picks up in 2023, and Punta Cana is at the top of vacationers’ list. The Dominican Republic was still busy during the pandemic, but you should expect more tourists now that more attractions are emerging.
Punta Cana, specifically, is known for its pristine white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and stunning world-class resorts, including a beautiful new resort on-site. Adding a meticulously designed amusement park to the mix should add more excitement to the travelers!
Welcome to Kathmandu Park
Backed by a massive $350 million investment from Meliá Hotels International and Falcon’s Beyond Global, this project aims to please everyone. Claiming to be “the Caribbean’s first world-class amusement park,” this fun zone has all the bells and whistles to keep the whole family entertained.
Those interested won’t have to wait much longer, as the grand opening is scheduled for March 15, 2023. Guests can access a sneak peek of what’s to come by pre-ordering tickets on the official Kathmandu website.
Advance preview hours are 6 PM – 12 AM.
Regular park hours are Sunday through Thursday, 10am-6pm, and Friday through Saturday, 10am-1am.
Ticket prices
Prices start at $85 for children and $120 for adults.

For the ultimate VIP experience, tickets for children are $140 and adults are $225. This includes one-time use of each attraction offered, incl Giant swing And an additional 18 holes of mini golf!
Both options are valid until the end of the calendar year.
location
Expecting to host at least 4,000 guests per day, the fun can be found on Avenida Alemana in Punta Cana. Some might say this is the “touristy” side of town. If this is the main draw for families on vacation, it’s only 10 miles from the Punta Cana airport.
Kathmandu will offer a limited number of lockers for those who choose to go directly from the airport. Otherwise, guests are more than welcome to stay conveniently located steps away from all the joy!
“This park perfectly fills an important gap in the market. Kathmandu Punta Cana will be the only theme park of its kind in the Caribbean, satisfying visitors’ hunger for world-class entertainment. It will be a completely unique experience for visitors to the surrounding hotels, tourists from the US, and residents of Punta Cana alike.” –
Simon Hirst, Director of Parks, Operations and Expansion at Falcon’s Beyond Global
All inclusive resort
The new 5-star resort is top notch, providing the perfect getaway for families or even adults who want to find their inner youth again!
Close to “magnificent beaches”, luxurious pools, and delicious cuisine, this resort is worth coming to Punta Cana on its own.
For those bringing kids with them, perhaps the best part is that every Standard Suite reservation comes with a free ticket to the theme park! Those who upgrade to a BEYOND guest suite will receive an upgrade in theme park admission as well. Instead of a Single Use Pass, they will now get a Multi-Day Pass for FREE!
To put the icing on the cake, guests will also have a private shuttle bus upon their request for easy access between the park and the resort.
The main attractions
Kathmandu wants to be the place where visitors can “let their imaginations run wild!”. This development is set to be similar in style to their other properties in Spain, and will offer many of the same attractions catering to a new demographic. The following video from the existing park in Mallorca gives a good idea of what visitors to the new park in Punta Cana can expect.
beautyinscotland We had the best time in Kathmandu, Majorca. Located in Magaluf, it was so much fun for the whole family. We paid 100€ for 2 adults and 2 children under 12 years old. Our favorite was the splash park and the upside down house. #mallorca #katmandupark #katmandu #magaluf #spain #splashpark #upsidedownhouse #holiday #funinthesun #sunnyspain #vacation #sunnydays #majorca #palma #santaponsa #play #fun #daysout #daysoutmallorca #aislandtrip #majorisland original
Major new attractions:
- Mini golf: 36 holes where players drop down a waterfall, maneuver through ice caves, and navigate a collapsed tunnel
- Interactive Virtual Tours: Guests can immerse themselves in a variety of exciting games filled with laser guns to defeat their enemies on screen. Think of it as a modern version of laser tag without having to leave your seat!
- QuadrupleAn action-packed agility course consisting of 4 different scenarios. Spider walls, rope swings, and crawl tubes are just some of the features that must be defeated to show off their skills.
- Track barriersE: This course has been designed with the Himalayas in mind. This ride of multiple bridges, swings, and cargo nets is worth seeing, as it is the highest point in the entire park.
