Nearly half of the police department in the village of Big Bend, Wisconsin, left their jobs this week.
A few months ago, the village board voted to disband the police department until public backlash caused it to reverse course. It is unfortunate that the leader died by his own hands.
Now the police are extremely frustrated, and more resignations are said to be on the way.
The board appears to be made up of woke people who wanted to defund the police and then found out that the community as a whole didn't agree. What a mess.
Daily Mail reports:
Nearly half of Wisconsin's police force resigns in one day after village council tries to eliminate entire department before 'devastating' chief dies by suicide
Five members of the Wisconsin State Police force resigned on the same day — an exodus that represented nearly half the department.
The Village of Big Bend announced the resignations last week, after officers told officers they were tired of the “toxic” work environment created by the Village Board.
The council itself decided to dissolve the administration last September, a decision that was reversed last month after pressure from local residents.
However, during that period, the city's long-serving police chief, Don Gaglione, suddenly died, and local coroners recently confirmed it was a suicide.
The revelation likely added to the anger displayed by one of the now-resigned officers at a village meeting last month. He was escorted out after expressing his distaste for another law that would get rid of the city's Police and Fire Commission.
In this short video report, there is one point where they show a town meeting and one of the police officers raises his hands in frustration, blaming the village council for the problems. He watches:
Communities that elect far-left activist types will continue to face problems like this. They need to elect leaders who have the support of the police department.
