New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay appeared on MSNBC this week to defend former Harvard University President Claudine Gay, calling it an attack on diversity.
Mara Gay may be one of the dumbest characters in American media. You may remember her famously stupid comments about Michael Bloomberg's campaign spending in 2020.
In her MSNBC commentary, Mara touches on almost every left-wing talking point, which is essentially her job. All you're doing is trying to reinforce the left's narrative on any given issue.

Mara Gay: Well, I think there's a lot going on here, so we just want to be careful to put everything in context. The thing that really bothered me was the relentless campaign from the right and from some conservative activists to smear and discredit, and ultimately, I think someone used the phrase, we demanded a scalp, I think, on social media, basically, removing Jay and others. From presidents, too, when they don't like the handling of not only the horrific attacks on Israel on October 7th, and the way that was handled on campus, but also anything else they don't like. Not just about these presidents, but actually what they call “vigilance” on campus.
So this is really an attack on academic freedom. It's an attack on pluralists, who think you should bring people from all over the world together from diverse backgrounds. And you actually have more scientific rigor, and more value can be achieved by having people from different backgrounds.
This is an attack on diversity. This is an attack on multiculturalism. And in terms of a lot of the values that a lot of us hold dear, and in fact, anyone, roughly my age and in their 30s, who went to any public university or major public university or private university in this country, these are the values that are very important. .
And I think that's why these presidents are under attack. That's why Claudine Guy was attacked. The fact that she was a black woman and the first black American to lead Harvard increased their thirst to oust her.

The New York Times @Mara Jay On Claudine Guy's resignation: “This is really an attack on academic freedom… This is an attack on diversity. This is an attack on multiculturalism, &… I don't have to say they're racist, because you can hear and see 'racism in the attacks'” pic.twitter.com/vLFQqtesqG

This woman gets paid a lot for her useless, trivial ideas. It's really amazing.
