Snow is likely this weekend, here's what we know now
I'll show you what. Show you what's happening outside of 40 degrees now. A little on the mild side, considering our normal high temperature, 37 degrees. We're at a high today of 41. That's four above normal this morning. Reaching the freezing mark at 32 degrees. So we have clouds from Pittsburgh down to the south and clear to the north. But as we got across the lake, we only had a few light scattered snow showers or flurries to work through. You can see all this. It will be a long time until tomorrow morning, and it won't go as far as seeing some snow falling around us as we head into tomorrow. This is 2:00 AM. We'll start to see some snow, and some flurries moving toward the area. This will be the case until around 8:00 AM. And then we'll go into the afternoon and take a look at this. Once we get around noon, the clouds will clear. We will have sunshine returning to the area again in the second half of Thursday. Now, it won't be nearly as warm as it was out there today. High temperatures will be in the mid 30s, but the January sunshine is still very nice. Here's eight o'clock on Friday morning. We will see partly cloudy skies as we head through the day. The weather will remain dry on Friday as well, and then moving into Saturday, we will have clouds covering the area, and we expect the possibility of rain and snow as we move into the second half of Saturday. So let me show you that we have a storm system that's in California right now, and here it is. It's moving across the country, it's going to move across the country, and it won't get to us until we get to Saturday. But once that happens, you can see that we're on the northern edge of this storm. So, if we went even a little further south, we might be closed or at least have a small amount of snow. If we stay on this track, we're going to be in pretty good shape as far as Pennsylvania is concerned, especially in the central and eastern sections, where we're seeing a significant amount of snow that, to us, looks pretty minimal at this point, but we'll continue to track this. We have short-term models coming online tomorrow, so we'll have a much better gauge of how much snow we can expect as the weekend goes on. Winds will pick up a bit tomorrow as well, around 20 mph and 30 degrees for your low. Mostly cloudy with flurries 34 and partly cloudy skies. We go later in the day and then hit 38 on Friday. We'll keep it dry, and then we'll watch the storm system move across the country. 37 on Saturday, 38 on Sunday
