To say there is a problem at the US-Mexico border is an understatement, and December proved that to be true.
Not so much a border issue as a suggestion, the number of people streaming through Central America to cross the border is extremely rare, if not unprecedented.
🚨Border costs are rising, costing every American
American taxpayers spend $182 billion annually on illegal immigration, an average of $1,156 per American.
In December alone, 276,000 people were detained at the border, a new record.

Record
Although illegal immigration has been out of control for decades, it is now reaching record numbers. 2023 was the worst year ever, and December was the worst month of the worst year.
Fox News reports:
The southern border of the United States saw the highest rate of encounters with illegal immigrants last month, invalidating previous statistics.
Sources at Customs and Border Patrol told Fox News Digital that migrant encounters reached a staggering 300,000 incidents in the last month of 2023, reaching a level that would have been unimaginable just years ago.
Between December 1 and December 31, more than 302,000 migrants were documented trying to cross the southern border of the United States.
This is the highest total ever recorded in a single month. This is the first time that the number of migrant encounters has exceeded 300,000.
More than 785,000 migrant encounters have been reported since the start of the fiscal year on Oct. 1 — the highest total ever recorded in a first quarter.
The Biden administration has claimed that the border is “operationally secure.”

Republicans don't have that
GOP members are criticizing Biden for going on vacation to St. Croix given how bad the border crisis is.
“Republicans are attacking President Biden for taking a family vacation on St. Croix amid a border crisis, arguing that it shows how absent the White House is on the issue,” The Hill reported.
The story added: “The president takes an annual trip to the Virgin Islands over the New Year's holiday, which this year comes as a migrant caravan attracts attention as it heads toward the United States and increased border crossings.”
“Joe Biden is on vacation in the Virgin Islands while the southern border is in crisis,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said in a statement this week, while Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.) criticized Biden for being “on vacation again.” While our southern border is being invaded by illegal aliens.
“Joe Biden is soaking up the sun in the Caribbean as an army of illegal aliens storms our southern border. Don't be fooled, this is what the radical left has always wanted. Arizona said Rep. Andy Biggs (Republican).
They have a point. How can a president take vacation when his country's borders are in such chaos?
Joe Biden may have just answered that question.
