A man was found dead after climbing into a plane engine at Salt Lake City Airport.
Kyler Effinger, 30, of Park City, broke through an emergency exit door while on a Delta Air Lines plane on Monday, police said.
Then he walked to the runway and climbed into one of the plane's engines.
The plane was sitting on the de-icing platform and its turbines were rotating.
Evinger, who had a boarding pass to Denver, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Salt Lake City police said they found Evinger unconscious and that emergency services extricated him from the engine intake hood, which directs airflow to the engine fan.
Store manager at Utah The world's largest airport told the Airport Control Center that it saw a passenger go through the emergency exit just before 10pm (5am GMT).
Officers then found Evinger's clothes, shoes and other personal items on one of the plane's runways, and quickly told the pilot to shut down the plane's engines.

Paramedics performed CPR and administered naloxone — a medication that can quickly reverse an opioid overdose and restore normal breathing — in an attempt to revive the man.
Police are still determining the cause and manner of Effinger's death.
The flight, Delta 2348, from Salt Lake City to San Francisco, was canceled after passengers disembarked safely, a Delta spokesperson told NBC News.
“Since nothing is more important than the safety and security of our customers and people, Delta is fully cooperating with all aviation and law enforcement investigations,” they added.
