Good morning! a happy new year. He's back to work and back to school today. You'll need that warm coat this morning as temperatures are in the teens and twenties. The weather will remain mainly calm through the week, but confidence is growing that we could see our first major snowstorm of the season over the weekend. More on that below.

    today

Temperatures in the 20s this morning will rise to the upper 30s and lower 40s this afternoon with plenty of sunshine throughout the day. Winds are northwesterly and westerly 5-10 knots.

    Tonight

The skies are full of stars tonight with lows in the mid 20s again.

    tomorrow

We'll stay dry and calm for Wednesday. After another cold start in the 20s, we will see afternoon highs in the low 40s (that's well above the average for the 40 degree date).

    I look forward

We could find a little snow or rain on Thursday, but the chances of that are not high. The cold front partly responsible for the rain/snow showers will bring colder air into New England on Friday and Saturday… perhaps setting the region up for a snow storm over the weekend?

Maybe the weekend or Easter? It's too early to tell on snow amounts, since these storms are always very track dependent (and last 6 days). However, this may be the first major snowstorm in a long time.
