    A police officer named Sgt. Phillip Dale Nix was murdered at a gas station in North Carolina on Saturday, December 30, 2023. Authorities have identified three suspects – Jamir Justice Foster, 18, Zaccaria Liberce Blackwell, 18, and John Walter Morrison, 28. They were detained and formally charged.

    Nix was taken to the hospital shortly after the fatal shooting. However, he died of his wounds. According to authorities, Sgt. Phillip Dale Nix attempted to stop a crime that may have been occurring at the gas station. This allegedly led to him being shot.


    Sgt. Phillip Dale Nix was shot and killed on Saturday, and authorities later arrested three suspects potentially involved in the shooting.

    A horrific incident occurred on Saturday when Sgt. Nix, a 23-year-old veteran, tried to stop a crime at a gas station in North Carolina. He was shot dead, and the suspects fled the scene. According to the Greensboro Police Department, the brutal shooting happened around 4pm at the Sheetz at 3202 Sandy Ridge Road in Colfax.

    Another off-duty officer and a Guilford County Paramedic were at the scene and rendered aid to the victim. A statement regarding X was issued by Governor Roy Cooper. According to the statement:

    “…Our prayers are with the Greensboro Police, her family and her loved ones. Every effort must be made to apprehend those responsible and bring justice to this tragic situation.”

    ABC 11 It stated that a blue alert had been issued. It is typically issued when a law enforcement officer is under attack or when the public or a law enforcement officer is in danger. The news station also confirmed that Philip Dale Nix was the supervisor of the Domestic Victims Unit. Besides, he was also the Assistant Commander of the GPD Honor Guard Team. For over 12 years, he has served as a team leader for a peer support team.


    Two suspects were held without bail

    WTVR It was reported that the deceased officer was not on duty when the shooting occurred. The police detained the three suspects. Jamere Justice Foster has been charged with first-degree murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Blackwell was charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. Authorities then charged the third suspect, Morrison, with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

    While Morrison and Foster are being held without bond, Blackwell was issued a $500,000 bond. Police revealed that they arrested all the suspects from Winston-Salem. The Greensboro Police Department said on Facebook:

    “We ask that all parties respect the family’s privacy at this difficult time and more information about donations to the family will be shared on our social media pages in the coming days.”

    At a news conference Saturday, authorities would not confirm the alleged criminal activity, said Sgt. Philippe Dale Nix witnessed this, which prompted him to intervene. The case is an ongoing investigation.
