Radical Renewal is an online book written in blog format. Each blog post is a chapter covering a topic we rarely think about: the spirituality of trading. About a year ago, I wrote a popular blog post about “evidence-based spirituality,” detailing how spiritual practices have been found to enhance our emotional and physical health. However, the concept of business spirituality seems like an oxymoron. After all, isn't trading to make money?!
We know that emotions can get in the way of trading, but why do rational people suddenly face problems like “slant” when they immerse themselves in the markets?
The answer proposed by radical renewal theory is that problematic deliberation comes from the ego. Successful trading comes from the soul.
So what is the soul? How can we develop the fullness of our spirit? How can we make trading a rejuvenating and fulfilling activity, rather than one that takes over our lives and exhausts us? What does recent research evidence tell us about how we can live lives full of fulfillment and meaning?
