Get ready for an exceptional winter experience full of luxury and romance. Set amidst a stunning snowy landscape, Deer Valley offers an exceptional getaway, where meticulously crafted slopes and warm hospitality combine to create an unforgettable romantic getaway.
Deer Valley Valentine's Day
The busiest times for ski resorts are typically President's Day weekend and the holiday week between Christmas and New Year's. Deer Valley also sees a boom during the Sundance Film Festival, a two-week event in late January. While Sundance can be a great time for skiing, crowded places can take away from the romance. However, Valentine's Day falls in a sweet, quieter place between Sundance and President's Day. During this period, you'll find short elevator lines, easy-to-book dining reservations, and a charming, romantic atmosphere. Because Deer Valley is designed to comfortably accommodate peak crowds, the experience becomes more enjoyable during this time.
Day 1 – Arrival
Deer Valley's base elevation of 6,570 feet often results in heavy snowfall, so streamlined travel plans are essential. Staying at a Deer Valley hotel provides access to resort transportation and complimentary Deer Valley Direct parking, making it easy to avoid parking hassles. On clear days, you can use Uber to get to the resort; In snowy conditions, choose four-wheel drive. When you return to the airport, consider a shuttle, as hailing an Uber can be a hassle. Take advantage of Deer Valley's free valet parking service to collect pre-rented skis and have them delivered for the next day.
Arrival day adventures
Save the skiing for full days and instead plan a half-day winter adventure to make the most of your arrival. All Seasons Adventures, Deer Valley's favorite activity provider, offers a range of options, including snowshoeing, dog sledding and cross-country skiing. A snowshoe trek through pristine trails followed by a delicious dinner is the perfect introduction to this winter wonderland.
Dine by the fireplace
Enjoy an enchanted evening at the Empire Lodge located nearly 2,000 feet above Park City. From Wednesday to Sunday, the lodge transforms into a fireside dining experience, featuring an Alpine-inspired four-course menu served around four stone fireplaces. Start with melted raclette cheese and meats, savor delicious main courses, and finish with a delicious chocolate fondue. Enhance the romance with a horse-drawn sleigh ride during your meal. Pair your feast with expertly curated wines or imported beers, but remember to stay hydrated to adapt to the altitude.
First day of skiing
Deer Valley is a skier's paradise with adult group lessons of just four participants. Starting the day with a lesson ensures you're ready to hit the slopes, and it's best to avoid a “Griswold” situation by learning from a pro rather than your partner. After lessons, explore the mountain's 25 chair lifts and many green and blue trails, perfect for couples looking for scenic rides. When it's time to take a break, choose from cozy mid-mountain snack cabins or luxurious lunch spots.
Dinner at Mariposa
Ranked #1 in the Zagat Restaurant Guide, The Mariposa transforms a rustic Silverlake inn into a luxury dining destination. Multi-course dinners feature locally sourced game meats and fresh seasonal ingredients, perfect for a romantic evening. On special occasions like Valentine's Day, the restaurant offers pre-packaged menus designed to elevate the experience. Reservations are essential and best made in advance.
Second day of skiing
With your skiing skills updated, you can venture into Deer Valley's terrain. Join your host's free mountain tour to discover hidden trails, including pristine powder country roads. Use this day to hone your skills on the immaculately groomed slopes and visit the Lady Morgan Express, the mountain's furthest lift, for untouched rides until late in the day.
After skiing
Celebrate the end of a successful ski day with a luxurious après-ski experience. Start with champagne and caviar at Montage Deer Valley's Veuve Clicquot Après ski lounge or enjoy the vintage charm of the St. Regis Vintage Room. For a more relaxed option, visit the converted Royal Street Café + Bar, a stylish 21+ après-ski spot with stunning mountain views.
Dinner at Cast & Cut
End your evening with a seafood feast at Cast & Cut. This popular dining spot offers a wide range of sustainably sourced options, from delicious shrimp to rich paella and pasta. Pair your meal with a wide selection of wines to create an unforgettable dining experience.
The ultimate absurdity
As your romantic getaway comes to an end, choose how you will spend your final moments. Some may enjoy the bar vibe of downtown Park City, while others prefer to relax in the inn's hot tub. For a truly upscale experience, consider the Deer Valley Premier VIP Concierge program or add a ski butler service for the ultimate in convenience. No matter how you end your trip, a weekend in Deer Valley promises fun, sophistication and romance, creating memories as breathtaking as the snowy peaks.
