Cody Yellowstone has been hosting generations of travelers for over a century with unique and fun accommodations. From camping to glamping, ranches to bed and breakfasts, Cody has a place for you at the gateway to Yellowstone National Park.
“From the room where Ernest Hemingway once slept to the wagon a shepherd once laid his head on, there’s a huge range of options for travelers who embrace the exotic,” says Ryan Hauck, CEO of Cody Yellowstone, the marketing arm for the region that includes the towns of Cody, Powell and Meeteetse, a large swath of Shoshone National Forest and about half of Yellowstone National Park. “Travelers who prefer something a little more predictable will find plenty of options to suit their interests and budgets, too.”
Unleash your inner “Baba” at the Chamberlain Hotel
Every room in Chamberlain Hotel This hotel is unique, but the most famous is the Hemingway Suite. The original Pope stayed here in 1933 while working on Death in the Afternoon. You can follow in Hemingway’s footsteps by fishing the Clarks Forks of the Yellowstone River and drinking with the locals at Irma’s Bar. Of course, the hotel displays the guest book in the lobby, and the entrance proudly reads “Ernest Hemingway, Key West, Florida.”
Enjoy a supernatural stay at Hotel Irma
Buffalo Bill Cody built Irma Hotel In 1902, this hotel remains one of the most iconic buildings on Sheridan Street. The hotel was named after Bell's daughter, Irma, whose husband Fred Garlow ran the hotel until their tragic deaths. Both Irma and Fred died of the Spanish flu in 1918.
Irma was only 35 years old when she died, and she is said to still haunt Room 35. Guests have reported water being turned on and off in the bathroom, belongings being moved to different places, and artwork on the floor where it simply couldn’t fall off picture hooks. In another room, there have been reports of Irma herself in a rocking chair. No one can say for sure if the hotel is truly haunted, but following Hemingway’s plan of drinking at Irma’s Bar will certainly increase your chances of seeing a ghost.

Luxury Camping at the Gates of Yellowstone in Pahaska Tent
the Pahaska Teepee Lodge This was Buffalo Bill Cody’s original hunting lodge, where he hosted friends including the Prince of Monaco and President Theodore Roosevelt. There are no tents at this lodge, but they do have a collection of A-frame cabins for luxury camping. Best of all, it’s the closest accommodation to the East Gate of Yellowstone Park.
Go Sleepy in a Tipi at Cody Trout Ranch Camp or Ponderosa Campground
Some outdoor enthusiasts say that glamping doesn’t mean camping. For us, camping in a teepee is still the best option. With that in mind, Cody offers two teepee camping options for people who want to try something new without the hassle of pitching a tent. Cody Trout Farm Campground – RV & Tipi Park On the banks of the Shoshoni River, the campground is an ideal destination for anglers and paddlers. Ponderosa Campground is located in town, making it within walking distance of many attractions.
