“Deliver Me From Nowhere,” the upcoming film about the making of Bruce Springsteen’s iconic 1982 album “Nebraska,” has arrived at 20th Century Studios.

“The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White is in talks to star as the legendary rocker. Scott Cooper (“Crazy Heart,” “Hostiles”) will write and direct the film based on Warren Zinn's 2023 book “Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.”

“Nebraska,” the follow-up to Springsteen's hugely successful album “The River,” was widely expected to be a rock album with the E Street Band. Instead, it was a stark solo album produced on a 4-track tape recorder. The book and film tell the story of Springsteen's artistic journey in creating the record, which is considered a turning point in his musical journey.

Ellen Goldsmith-Fein (The Maze Runner Trilogy) of Gotham Group, Eric Robinson, Cooper, Zannis and Scott Stuber are producers. Production on the film is expected to begin this fall.

Bruce Springsteen and his longtime manager Jon Landau will star in the film. “It is an honor to collaborate with Bruce Springsteen, an unparalleled, inspiring artist who means so much to so many,” said David Greenbaum, President, Disney Live Action and President of 20th Century Studios. “The profound authenticity of his story is in safe hands with my friend Scott Cooper, with whom I am thrilled to be collaborating again.”

“Warren Zanes’ book ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’ is one of the best books ever written about Bruce Springsteen and his music,” Landau said. “Bruce and I are thrilled that Scott Cooper has chosen to write and direct the film based on this book – we believe he is the perfect director for this task. Scott, along with producers Ellen Goldsmith Finn and Eric Robinson on the Gotham set, and Scott Stuber are assembling a great team to make sure this project has With the vision and spirit that have been the hallmark of Bruce's 55-year career, we are thrilled to have the loyal commitment and support of the entire team at 20th and Disney.

“When we first read Warren Zanes’s wonderful book, we knew that a beautiful film would be made that captured a creative artist as a human being at a defining moment in his artistic life,” Goldsmith Finn and Robinson said in their book. Joint statement. “We also knew there was only one director who could translate this story to cinema with verve and poetry, and that was Scott Cooper.”
