DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – While Friday and Saturday's severe weather event has moved out of the area, its effects are here to stay for another 24 to 72 hours.
Flood warnings are in effect along portions of various rivers in The Wiregrass, including the Choctawhatchee River in Houston and Deal counties, and the Chattahoochee River in Houston, Early and Henry counties.
It comes as widespread rain drenched the area with between 2 and 6 inches between late Friday and early Saturday.
Along with the flooding, an unconfirmed tornado struck Dale County, causing damage to trees and buildings. The National Meteorological Directorate is scheduled to begin its survey on Sunday.
For now, cooler and drier conditions will take hold. Lows will be in the 40s through Tuesday, with highs only reaching the 60s.
The next best chance for rain returns by Friday before another storm system.
