This weekend: Northern counties can expect light rain or drizzle during the morning as a cold front approaches, bringing gentle northwesterly winds and gradually clearing skies. Temperatures will vary widely, with highs reaching the mid-50s in the northwest and around 70 degrees in the southeast before the front passes. Most areas will reach peak temperatures around midday.
Tonight and Sunday, cooler and drier conditions will prevail as cold air settles over the area and high surface pressure continues to the west. Winds will remain high tonight, with lows ranging from the mid-30s to mid-40s. Sunday will bring sunny skies with highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s.
next week: High surface pressure dominates the vicinity of the region on Sunday and Monday nights, with light winds blowing and temperatures dropping to the thirties. Frost and freezing temperatures will be possible every night. A southerly flow to the southwest will lead to a recovery in temperatures and humidity during mid-week, with passing short waves contributing to increased cloud cover but having little impact on local weather conditions.
By the end of the week, a short wave and an associated surface depression will pull a cold front toward the southeast by Friday or Saturday. Models differ on the timing and extent of the front's move. As of now, another wet end to the work week can be expected, but specific details may change.
