Orlando weather forecast: March 9, 2024

FOX 35 Meteorologist Ian Cassett took a look at the forecast for Orlando and Central Florida.

    Today's high: 89 degrees
Lowest level for tonight: 63 degrees

    This weekend:

Saturday will be warm and breezy with winds gusting from the southwest at 25-30 mph. These winds will help usher in the warmest weather of the year so far with temperatures rising into the 80s and even some areas touching 90 degrees inland. With humidity levels rising, heat index values will reach the low 90s this afternoon, so stay hydrated! Records are likely bound or broken. Orlando's daily record of 89 from 1905 is one number that will likely be challenged. These warm temperatures are preceded by a cold front that could bring storms to our northern counties after sunset. Marion, Alachua and Gulf Coast counties could see strong and even severe storms late. High winds and a short tornado are the main risks. In the far south, scattered rain is expected throughout the night and into Sunday morning until the front clears. Behind the front, highs will be closer to average in the mid to upper 70s on Sunday.

    Beach Forecast:

A welcome forecast this weekend for our Central Florida beaches. Highs will reach the mid 80s with fresh offshore winds. Moderate riptide risk continues through the weekend, so swim with caution.

    Park forecast:

It will be a humid day on Saturday with highs nearing the 90s and temperatures feeling like the low 90s. Drink plenty of water if you're heading to the parks!

    I look forward:

Cooler, less humid air returns Sunday and sticks around to start next week. Highs will drop back into the 70s with lows in the 50s through Tuesday. We will see warm weather gradually return by the end of the week. As for the chances of rain, it is possible that the Gulf system will bring rain on Wednesday and Thursday, but the overall chances are at a minimum at the present time.
