Investigators said about 100 people were inside the club when the gunfire rang out.
Greensboro, North Carolina – UPDATE: Greensboro Police have identified the victims who died in the shooting as Mohsin Hamed, 33, and Devonte Johnson, 28.
Greensboro police said two men died and a woman went to the hospital after a shooting inside Culture Hall early Friday morning.
Investigators said about 100 guests were inside the club on Spring Garden Street when the gunfire rang out.
GPD, Guilford County EMS and UNCG Campus Police responded around 1:20 a.m. Police said EMS began life-saving procedures for “multiple gunshot victims inside the business.”
Police said, based on interviews, that they learned the fight occurred just before the shooting. Investigators said it was not a random act of violence.
Ali Jameh said that his friend Mohsen Hamed was in the Culture Hall on Thursday night. He added that Hamed jumped in to help, but the shooter returned and fired more shots, one of which hit Hamed. Family and friends gathered on Spring Garden Street as they searched for answers after Hamed and another man were killed.
Jammeh said Hameed had just celebrated his 33rd birthday and described his actions as selfless.
“He did not know anyone, neither the shooter nor the victim, but when the moment became difficult and everyone was running away, the shooter responded and shot him (Hamid) as well,” Jama said.
A woman was also shot and taken to hospital. It is listed in stable condition.
Police have not officially identified any of the victims at this time and no arrests have been made.
