Rain begins Saturday, threatening flooding on Sunday

Clouds return Saturday morning, with skies becoming overcast by the afternoon. It will be a dry day, but the next storm system will arrive from the west, bringing rain to the area after dark, likely between 7pm and 10pm. Expect heavy rain overnight, tapering off by sunrise on Sunday. Totals will generally be about one inch, but may be up to two inches in some areas. Although there will be a few hours of sunshine between rain showers, the main concern on Sunday will be the risk of flooding. Some rivers will reach minor flood stage, while coasts will see widespread minor flooding, with isolated instances of moderate flooding at high tide around noon.

    Quieter days ahead

Monday through Wednesday will be relatively calmer, with more sun than clouds. Temperatures will remain near seasonal levels, starting in the low 30s on Monday and gradually rising to the mid 40s in the afternoon. Temperatures will rise steadily until Tuesday when highs reach the upper 40s. By Wednesday, highs will climb into the mid 50s again! This will set the stage for mild and pleasant conditions in the final days of the work week.
