The principal of Cranbrook Private School in Sydney has resigned, days after a media report claimed there was a toxic culture at the boys' school.
Nicholas Sampson resigned on Friday, after the broadcaster aired allegations against the school by former teachers and staff, the ABC reported.
A headteacher has reportedly resigned after it was revealed that he kept a male teacher on staff who sent sexually explicit emails to a former student at a girls' school where the man previously taught.
In a statement, the school board said Sampson's resignation followed “allegations of deeply troubling past conduct involving a current senior teacher at Cranbrook School.”
“Mr Sampson failed to disclose the matter to the current school board in the context of the ABC this week Four corners The council said the broadcast led to an irreversible breakdown of trust between the headteacher and the school.
“The Board informed Mr. Sampson of this morning and received his resignation.”
Cranbrook School did not immediately respond to a request to confirm the resignation, but Cranbrook's website no longer lists Sampson as part of its executive team.

This controversy comes as the school, which has been designated for both sexes since its opening in 1918, is preparing to accept girls starting in 2026.
In the wake of the allegations, former tennis star Jelena Dokic backed out of her appearance at school ahead of International Women's Day.
On Cranbrook's website, Sampson says the school builds academic curiosity and optimism in “each of our students, allowing them to thrive in the 21st century.”
