Get ready for a soaking weekend. Rain waves are expected to begin on Friday, continue intermittently until Saturday, and end with snowfall on Sunday.
The rest of Thursday and early Friday will be dry, with temperatures in the 40s and overcast skies. There are two disturbances moving toward us from the Plains, and they will move northeast toward Ohio tomorrow and Saturday. The first system will push a warm front towards us, and this will push our temperatures on Friday into the upper 50s and lower 60s. That means about 15 degrees warmer than Thursday.

Although the weather will be warm and dry at first, it won't last long. The rain seems to start around mid-afternoon and spread more widely by the evening. If you have any Friday night events you will be attending – plan for rain.
Rain waves will continue Friday night until Saturday. You will be soaked even with expected breaks from the rain. When all is said and done, more than an inch of rain will be possible over the next couple of days. We will be monitoring for any flooding issues during that period. Once a cold front passes, temperatures will drop significantly by Sunday. 60 seconds for Friday, 50 seconds for Saturday and 30 seconds for Sunday. This means that the rain is expected to turn to snow on Sunday. Some accumulation is expected – especially in our northeastern communities in the Snow Belt.
Most people will see less than an inch or two, but it could be higher in the heart of the snow belt. No matter how much snow falls, temperatures will be back in the 60s by early next week. Stay dry this weekend. The Power of 5 Weather team will keep you updated throughout the weekend.
