quick Facts
-
- Today's weather: Bathing
- Beaches: Low 60s
- Mountains: 1940s – 1950s
- Interior: The sixties
- Warnings and instructions: Winter weather warning
In today's forecast, temperatures have dropped a few degrees as a storm moves in from the Gulf of Alaska. Highs will be in the mid 60s from the coast to inland, reaching 73 degrees in the Coachella Valley.
Rain is expected later this morning and a chance of evening thunderstorms of up to a half-inch on the coasts, valleys and mountains.
As for mountain snow, the San Gabriel Mountains can see up to 8 inches of snow at elevations above 6,500 feet, and in the San Bernardino Mountains expect no more than 5 inches above 6,500 feet. A few inches will bring dust to lower elevations, which could make driving difficult through mountain passes including Interstates 2, 18 and 38.
Come tomorrow, it will be mostly sunny and windy in the evening.

Things to do
Take it easy today.
- Writers' Block: Michelle Norris + Lena Waithe: former All things considered Host Michelle Norris is on stage at Writers Bloc in conversation with actress, writer, and director Lena Waithe (chi). Norris will talk about her new book Our hidden conversations. The book grew out of the Race Card Project, which asked Americans to talk about their feelings about race in just six words.
- Doll making workshop: LACMA is hosting a Communities Create LA event in Inglewood where kids (and adults, too) can make (and design!) brown paper bag dolls.
