Preserving natural cultural heritage is of great importance to both Egypt and Hungary, János Škák, Minister of Culture, said in Cairo on Monday, adding that the North African country served as an excellent example in this endeavour.

Egypt has a diverse national culture in which the Coptic Christian Church and Muslims live side by side, Chuck told MTI over the phone after meeting with Nevin Youssef Al-Kilani.

The minister said: “The Cairo government is making great efforts to ensure that Christians also live in peace in the country and to prevent violence resulting from religious differences.”

Chuck said he held talks on Sunday with Mohamed Ayman Ashour, the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as the minister responsible for education.

“They think along the same lines as the Hungarian government regarding culture, which for them embodies not only the arts, but a way of life, a way of thinking and their way of seeing the world,” the minister said.

Chuck said he briefed Egyptian government officials on the paradigm shift in how Hungarian universities are run, and they expressed their appreciation for the changes.

During his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Kamal Madbouly on Sunday, he discussed the science and university financing system, and they agreed to launch joint educational programs with the launch of joint Hungarian and Egyptian diplomas.
