Cristiano Giuntoli, Juventus' director of football, is staying away from all discussions regarding Max Allegri's future at the club.
There is great speculation currently surrounding the manager's fate. While his contract expires in 2025, it is widely believed that he will either sign a new deal or leave at the end of the season.
Allegri's agent publicly claimed that his client deserved a renewal, and implicitly urged management to make the move.
For his part, Giuntoli remained coy when discussing the matter.
The former sporting director of Napoli said that the club is satisfied with the coach's work. However, he refused to give any hints about the future.
“Allegri's words? Nothing has changed, at the right moment we will talk about the future,” Giuntoli said in his pre-match interview before Juventus's match against Napoli online. La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We are thrilled with his work, but we are also very focused on the present. In time, we will sit around the table to plan for the future.
Juventus director also discussed Federico Chiesa's level. The Italian was coming off a bad spell before putting in a strong display at the Maradona Stadium despite his side's 2-1 defeat.
“He had some physical problems. Obviously if the players aren't 100% they won't be so great.
“We are waiting for him to improve his condition and performance.”
Finally, Giuntoli admitted that his return to Napoli was emotional after spending eight years in the city.
“Yes, for me, it is an emotional return to Maradona. I have not met President De Laurentiis yet but I will welcome him with pleasure.
