A liberal GOP lawmaker has launched a scheme to undermine House Speaker Mike Johnson and force the House to vote on giving tens of billions to Ukraine.
As Axios reported, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (RINO-PA) plans to use a parliamentary procedure known as an impeachment petition, making him the first GOP to signal an outright challenge against House leadership.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, the US Senate passed a massive $95.3 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, without border funding, while almost all Americans were asleep. Upon its approval, the bill moved to the House of Representatives.
However, Johnson pledged not to introduce the bill or any legislation that does not resolve the border crisis. The vast majority of the Republican caucus supports his position.
Fitzpatrick explained to Axios why he was determined to sell out America for more Ukrainian money.
We have to do something. It is existential. It is time sensitive.
Whether it's our product or someone else's product, we just have to get the money out to them.
Fitzpatrick says the petition will be ready by early March and he expects it will have Republican support.
He will not need much support from the Republican Party to succeed in his plan. The GOP has a majority of just 219-213, thanks to retirements and special election losses.
Axios notes that they spoke to a Republican who pledged to sign the petition “if there is no further progress.”
Reno previously joined three other Republicans and four Democrats to provide a $66 billion “settlement” aid package to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. The plan would also restore Trump's stay in Mexico policy.
However, this plan went nowhere, likely prompting Fitzpatrick to turn to a more damaging alternative plan.
