Crestline, Ohio (now Crawford County) — Crestline Village will be a big success in 2024 with a major investment in parks and recreation areas. The village plans to design and build a new playground near the existing pool area, a project that signifies the shift in direction of recreational facilities in the community.
The swimming pool, which had been neglected for several years, was beyond repair within the limits of the village grant. However, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has allowed the village to redirect those funds toward the splash pad project, which is scheduled to begin construction in early 2024.
Beginning March 1, the village began the process of removing several items from the pool operations to make room for the new splash pad. Over the next few months, the site will see a flurry of activity, including hauling dirt, leveling the ground and removing slides, pumps and lines that are no longer needed. This preparation will pave the way for the installation of the sprinkler panel, which is scheduled to become operational in 2024. Unfortunately, this means the pool will be closed permanently.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $405,000. The Village of Crestline will use a $343,000 ODNR grant, initially intended for the pool, for the splash pad project. This leaves the village's investment at $62,000.
Once that is completed, the Parks and Recreation Commission will hold a grand opening of the venue, which will feature an inclusive design for all children, regardless of their needs. Crestline Village is committed to ensuring that its parks and recreational facilities are inclusive of all parties. The splash pad will also have LED lighting for small light shows.
The Splash Pad platform will be free and open to the public during a specific number of hours that the committee will discuss in the near future. This project represents an important step forward in Crestline Village's commitment to investing in its future and providing inclusive and attractive recreational spaces for its residents.
Target completion date is July 2024.
