A corrupt Cook County judge has ordered the Illinois Board of Elections to remove Donald Trump from statewide ballots for the March 19 primary.
As ABC 7 News Chicago reported, Democratic Judge Tracy Porter stripped Trump from the ballot in Illinois one month after the Illinois State Board of Elections rejected an anti-Trump appeal in a unanimous, bipartisan vote.
Porter claimed that Trump violated the Insurrection Clause of the 14th Amendment as a pretext for removing him from the ballot. We all know Trump did not commit insurrection or any other federal crime.
“The Court also recognizes the magnitude of this decision and its impact on the upcoming Illinois primary,” Porter wrote.
“The Illinois State Board of Elections shall remove Donald J. Trump from the ballot for the March 19, 2024 general primary election, or cause any votes cast for him to be suppressed.”
Porter previously rejected Trump's request to halt the proceedings until the US Supreme Court rules on a similar appeal in Colorado that kept him off the ballot in that state.
As CNN noted, Illinois is now the third state where Trump has been removed from the ballot, after Colorado and Maine. But those decisions were temporarily halted pending the appeal of the Colorado case to the US Supreme Court.
Porter relied on the Colorado Supreme Court's previous absurd finding, and described Colorado's justifications as “compelling.”
CNN also reports that this lawsuit was filed by a group of left-wing voters in cooperation with the far-left legal advocacy group Free Speech For People.
The group had previously tried, but failed, to prevent Trump from voting in Michigan, Minnesota and Oregon.
Porter issued a stay of the order Wednesday to give Trump's lawyers time to appeal the decision.
