Joe Biden will finally – allegedly – visit the US-Mexico border on Thursday. It's a rarity for this president, who has overseen the worst border crisis in our nation's history.
Donald Trump will also visit on the same day.
Something Biden claims he didn't realize was happening until a reporter interrupted his ice cream break to ask him about it.

Biden: “What I didn’t know was that my dear friend was apparently going away.”
The White House announced in a statement that “Biden will travel to Brownsville, Texas, to meet with US Border Patrol agents, law enforcement officials, and local leaders.”
“He will discuss the urgent need to pass the bipartisan Border Security Agreement in the Senate, the toughest and fairest set of reforms to secure the border in decades,” the statement said. He added: “He will repeat his calls for Republicans in Congress to stop playing politics and provide funding for more US Border Patrol agents, more asylum officers, fentanyl detection technology and more.”
Texas has seen some of the worst of the illegal immigration crisis and has taken unprecedented measures to try to stem the flow and protect Texans.
NBC News reported:
Two sources familiar with Trump's plans told NBC News that Trump will deliver remarks in Eagle Pass, Texas, which is about 330 miles from Biden's stop.
Trump campaign press secretary Carolyn Levitt said in a statement that the White House is sending Biden to the border because, she claims, he is “losing badly” in the 2024 race. “Biden’s last-minute insincere attempt to chase President Trump to the border will not work,” she said. “.
Commenting on his plans after a campaign meeting in New York on Monday, Biden told reporters: “I was planning to go on Thursday.
He added: “What I did not know was that my dear friend was apparently leaving,” referring to Trump.
Biden declined to comment when asked if he would meet with migrants during the trip.

Voters trust Trump over Biden when it comes to borders
Biden last visited the US-Mexico border in January 2023.
Democrats are still wondering why so many Republicans and Trump are critical of Biden's handling — or lack thereof — of border policy.
Polls overwhelmingly show that more voters trust Trump's ability to handle border issues than Biden.
“An NBC News poll in January found that 57% of registered voters said Trump would handle border security better, while 22% said the same about Biden,” the report noted. The same poll found that 48% of people said they trust Biden to treat immigrants humanely, while 31% said the same about Trump.
It will be interesting to see how these two journeys play out, and what that might mean as we head into November.
It's time to support and share the sources you trust.
