A new poll shows that 48 percent of young voters say they would support Donald Trump “if the election were held today,” and 52 percent indicated they would vote for Joe Biden.
Trump is still trailing Biden, but he is closer than ever to this demographic of voters.

Trump is getting closer to young voters
The survey was conducted by Axios and Generation Lab, with 1,073 American adults between the ages of 18 and 34.
According to the Pew Research Center, Gen Z and Millennial voters went for Biden by a twenty-point margin over Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
Obviously 20 is a greater spread than four.
However, some urge caution. “We don't know enough yet,” Neil O'Brien, a political scientist at the University of Oregon, told Axios. But this idea that young people are going to keep joining the Democratic Party? “There are some question marks about that.”
“Gen Z and millennial voters were key to Biden's victory in 2020, as they turned out in large numbers and favored him by 20 points in 2020, according to a Pew Research Center analysis,” Axios noted. Also, “polls show that Biden's strong support for Israel has hurt him among young voters.”
Biden fared slightly better with poll respondents who said they definitely plan to vote in November. The poll showed that 42 percent said they would vote without a doubt, and 63 percent of them supported Biden.
It is perhaps no coincidence that Trump's rise among younger voters is linked to participants indicating that the economy was the most important issue. 39% of survey respondents said the economy was their top issue, followed by abortion at 16%, and student debt and immigration at 11%.
10% of them were most concerned about climate change. Seven percent were killed by rifles.

Age is a factor
Some were not satisfied with the overall ages of their party's potential candidates.
“I'm very disappointed because of my age [the candidates] David Place, a 25-year-old from Stratford, Connecticut, who plans to vote for Trump, said:
“I will say that Biden's age and the way it affects him is more clear to people than Trump's age,” Bliss said.
“I'm not necessarily excited about either candidate, but I know that voting is my civic duty… I like Biden's environmental policies more and his views on abortion,” said Rachel Domidera, a sophomore at Ohio State and a Biden supporter.
We still have many months to go until the elections, and a lot can happen.
But at this moment, Donald Trump appears to be catching up with Joe Biden in one of his key demographics more than ever before.
