Find out the truth about Biden's border situation. Contrary to claims, the open borders crisis is not a myth.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Axios seems to take this slogan very seriously.

The outlet reposted a column from October 2023 that claimed the illegal immigrant crisis at America's open borders was nothing more than a “myth.”

“By using the term 'open borders,' conservatives are falsely suggesting that anyone can enter the United States without much trouble. But the southern border is more fortified than ever,” they claimed in a post on X.

Yes, that line was written and published with a straight face.

Fox News correspondent Bill Melogen, who some might say is the country's foremost authority on open borders due to his extensive on-site reporting, responded with a short video that blew up the entire Axios narrative.

“Too fortified!” He said with as much disdain as possible in a two word response.

Axios claims Biden's open borders are a myth, a myth

Melogen's video was posted on social media last month by his Fox News colleague, photographer Bud Knapp.

The scene, reported by The Policy Insider, shows two human smuggling SUVs caught on camera dropping off groups of illegal immigrants near the US border.

The individuals are then seen walking around the border wall and illegally entering the country without any resistance from the authorities and without any difficulty crossing an open section of the barrier.

“Our photographer in Jacumba, California, had just witnessed two human smuggling SUVs drop off groups of illegal immigrants who then walk around the border wall and enter the United States,” Melogen said at the time.

Melogen added that the illegal immigrants from this randomly captured event hail from all over the world, including Asia and the Middle East.

“People from China, Turkey and India are in this group,” he described. “This is in eastern San Diego County, and there was only one Border Patrol agent in the area, according to our photographer.”

It is not just that one fails to deduce That the border is “fortified” after watching the clip, but they likely come away with a greater sense and understanding that the problem is much bigger worst What is reported.

Ashley St. Clair provided another piece explaining that the only myth in the Axios column is the idea that they are an outlet without apparent bias in their reporting.

Axios must love being made fun of

An Axios column claiming Biden's border crisis is a “myth” was debunked when it was published in October. Why they choose to recycle is anyone's guess.

    Maybe they like to offend.

I feel so sorry for anyone who still thinks the news is real, or is even trying to be real.

These poor people are living a kind of Trump nightmare that exists entirely in their minds. https://t.co/TAPlAJM1OU

    -Scott Adams (@ScottAdamsSays) February 24, 2024

This column was written by Russell Contreras, the outlet's “justice and race” reporter, so you know exactly how seriously to take this effort. The crux of his argument is that the sheer number of confrontations on the southern border indicates success.

The problem with that argument is:

    1. Illegal immigrants believe that their odds of entering the country are high enough that they are willing to take a chance by beating the system.
    2. It does not address the fact that even after they are arrested, we have seen mass releases of illegal immigrants in cities across the country.
    3. The article mentions “smuggler” zero times. This latest number reached 1.8 million – a favour!

Your argument that Biden's borders are “impregnable” tends to be undermined when you simply ignore the nearly 2 million known illegal immigrants who have eluded authorities, and countless millions who don't even know about them.

The media continues to embarrass itself on a daily basis.
