Ukraine and its foreign partners may invite Russia to a future peace summit to discuss ending Moscow's two-year-old invasion on Kiev's terms, a senior Ukrainian official said on Sunday.
Andriy Yermak, Zelensky's chief of staff, said Switzerland would host a summit to discuss Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's vision for peace, which could be delivered to Russia during a second meeting later.
“There may be a situation where we together invite representatives of the Russian Federation, where the plan will be presented to them in case whoever represents the aggressor state at that time wants to truly end this war and return to a just peace,” he said during a televised conference in Kiev.
Zelensky first announced his peace formula at the G20 summit of major economies in November 2022. It calls for the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity and the complete withdrawal of Russian forces.
Kiev confirmed that it will not talk to Moscow until all Russian forces leave Ukrainian territory.
The Kremlin said there was no current basis for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine and that the peace plan put forward by Kiev was ridiculous because it excluded Russia.
