Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the state government is working on a new agricultural policy aimed at promoting agriculture through modern technology while preserving the rich heritage of traditional agriculture. He was speaking at the two-day Krishi Mahotsav in Sankilim on Saturday.
Sawant stressed the government's stance that only farmers can sell agricultural land. He encouraged young people to adopt the concept of the “green and white revolution” in agriculture, assuring them of full government support.
He highlighted the recent conferral of Padmashree Award to farmers, highlighting their achievements and boosting their confidence in activities such as poultry, dairy and vegetable farming. He also announced the distribution of 200 free solar pumps to farmers under the Kusum Yojna scheme.
Echoing Sawant's message, Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik urged farmers to preserve their ancestral lands for future generations. He encouraged young people to use modern technology to improve their economic conditions through agriculture.
Padmashri awardee Sanjay Patel was felicitated during the event. Director Neville Afonso, Agriculture Officer Neelima Jawas, SMC President Rashmi Desai, ZP Mahesh Sawant, Gopal Surlakar, Sarpanch and Panch members were also present.
