Judith Carey is a climate scientist who was beloved by the media and academia because she was promoting a narrative they liked, suggesting that climate change is catastrophic.
She then responded to critics by re-examining her work and admitting that her findings were flawed. Suddenly, no one wanted to talk to her anymore.
In a recent interview with liberal journalist John Stossel, she explained how the media and higher education reward climate panic, saying they only want to hear one side of the story.

John Stossel: We've been told that climate change is a crisis. Anyone who questions or raises any questions about the alert is excluded.
The consensus is so strong, there shouldn't even be a debate.
Climate advocates claim there is overwhelming scientific consensus, but researcher Judith Carey says climate scientists have an incentive to exaggerate the risks.
John Stossel: Why, what's the use of them?
Judith Carey: Fame and Fortune.
She knows this because she once posted a climate change alarm. The media loved it when they published this study, saying there was an increase in hurricane intensity.
JUDITH CURRY: We found that the proportion of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes had doubled, so the media reported on this. The alarmists said, “Oh, this is the way to do it.” Linking extreme weather events to global warming.
John Stossel: So this hysteria is your fault?
Judith Carey: Well, not really, they would have noticed anyway.
But Carrie's more intense hurricanes gave them fuel.
Judith Curry: I've been embraced by environmental groups and alarmists, and treated like a rock star.
John Stossel: What does that mean, being treated like a rock star?
JUDITH CURRY: Oh my God, I've flown all over the place to meet with politicians and to give these talks and a lot of media attention…
Judith Carey: About 10 years ago, the editor-in-chief of Science wrote this political talk about the need to stop emissions now, which was published in Science. So what kind of message does that send, promote the papers of concern and don't even send the other papers for review.

Then she realized that some of her research was wrong.
When she admitted this, the corrupt climate change industry attacked her.

Climate change has become a billion-dollar industry. A lot of people are now making a lot of money writing about it and promoting it to anyone to challenge the narrative.
