Republicans in the House of Representatives are trying to impeach Joe Biden.
Why? They believe there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the president and his son Hunter Biden were accepting bribes or at least involved in pay-to-play schemes with various countries, especially the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.
A source in the impeachment investigation, Alexander Smirnov, was recently accused of making false statements to the FBI about the matter. Republicans had previously described Smirnov as “highly credible” and said his allegations were “direct evidence of outright corruption and bribery.”
This caused CNN host Abby Phillip to question Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz about Smirnoff and his credibility.
And things got interesting.

“If you want to bribe a 75-year-old man, you have to pay his children.”
It was an exchange where Phillips seemed to think she got Gaetz, but the congressman had some good — and undeniable — responses.
Medium reports, “After Gaetz was questioned about the arrest of impeachment source Alexander Smirnov, who was charged with making false statements to the FBI after claiming that the Ukrainian energy company Burisma paid President Biden and his son Hunter Biden $5 million each, Philip then played a group of Gaetz's associates who… They described Smirnov as “highly credible” and his allegations as “direct evidence of outright corruption and bribery.”
“When asked if his colleagues’ statements were ‘irresponsible,’ Gaetz responded, ‘Maybe some of those descriptions were a little exaggerated, but I think the bribe could also go to a family member,’” Mediaite noted.
The story continued:
“If you want to bribe a 75-year-old man, you have to pay his children…,” he said.
The CNN host then asked: “Given that according to Jim Jordan, this was the most supportive evidence they had, should they drop this impeachment?”
Gates replied:
I disagree with Jordan that this is more certain. I think what's more certain are the payments to Hunter Biden, Frank Biden, and James Biden. I was impeaching James Biden, and the way they took money from the Chinese government will give you chills. Now, granted this is James Biden, not Joe Biden, but I think that when these foreign governments are loading the entire Biden family apparatus with money, they are not doing so to extract some kind of skill or service from those close to them. The Bidens do it well, they do it to influence Joe Biden.
But it wasn't just this knockout that caught the attention of the ever-watching Internet.

Why did Burisma pay Hunter Biden such a large sum of money?
“Everything I have described is an inference,” Philip said. “You actually haven't provided any evidence for what you're claiming.”
“But Abby,” Gaetz replied, “why do you think Burisma was paying Hunter Biden?” Do you think they were paying him to find out where to go to buy crack in Los Angeles? “I mean, they were paying him because he had access to Joe.”
It was a tense discussion but it was hard to get past Gaetz's point — why exactly would Burisma pay Hunter Biden such a large sum of money.
It was definitely not to buy crack.
