Since the 19th century, birds singing to each other during the spring mating season have become known as Valentine's Day (pronounced “Valentine-ing”).
In parts of England, Valentine's Day was also the name of a Valentine's morning tradition in which children went door to door singing carols such as “Happy tomorrow, Valentine!”/ First it's yours, then it's mine/ So please give me a Valentine! “
