The rain and storms have moved out of here and we're seeing clear skies and overall, it's a great Friday for weather across Alabama. Temperatures are in the 60s this afternoon, and we have a fresh, but generally nice, northerly wind. Tonight, it will be clear and cool with lows in the low 40s for most of north-central Alabama.

GREAT WEEKEND WEATHER: This will be the best weather weekend so far in 2024 in Alabama; There is no bitter cold air and/or no rain and storms. Expect mostly sunny and pleasant days and fair nights tomorrow and Sunday. High temperatures tomorrow will be closer to 60 degrees, but temperatures will rise to the upper 60s and lower 70s on Sunday as a warming trend begins.

Next Week: The week starts off dry with wonderful spring-like temperatures. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. Midweek, a cold front will bring rain and storms to Alabama. Models continue to back away from the potential threat of severe weather. However, the SPC maintains the risk of severe storms for parts of Alabama in its “Day 6” forecast for Wednesday, but at this point the threat continues to decrease.

This may change in the coming days, and we will continue to monitor trends over the weekend. Have a great weekend of weather ahead, we'll worry about next week's system, next week.

As the front decreases in the state, the front appears to become stationary which may lead to increased rain chances on Thursday and Friday. Cold air is creeping into two-thirds of northern Alabama these days, with highs in the 50s on Thursday and Friday.

Contiguous maximum temperatures: Over the past 24 hours, the highest temperature was 91°F at Del Rio, Cotulla, and Faith Ranch Airport, Texas. The lowest observation was -11°F in Mackay, ID.
