John Boyd Jr., a fourth-generation farmer and president of the National Black Farmers Association, joined Stuart Varney on Fox Business' “Varney & Co.” To discuss the devastating impact of Joe Biden's policies on American farmers.
He criticized the administration for prioritizing others, including illegal immigrants and foreign governments, over Americans.
All farmers are suffering under Biden, but Boyd asserts that black farmers “face extinction.”
Boyd told Varney that there are now only 40,000 black farmers in the United States, down from 1 million at its peak. While American farmers suffer, with land ownership dramatically reduced, Biden launched a $100 million initiative to provide Ukrainian farmers with essential supplies during the ongoing war with Russia.
“We are certainly facing extinction, and as far as American farmers are concerned, all farmers are hurting, and under this leadership, we are sending aid to Ukraine but we are not going to stop agricultural foreclosures for American farmers,” Boyd said.
“We see it almost as 40 acres and a mule. … We don't get debt relief, but then I see $100 billion going to Ukraine. Some of that money went to help Ukrainian farmers with taxpayer money.”
“I say: Why can't we use some of these resources to help farmers here at home in the United States?”
“And I look at the crisis at the border, it's a complete mess,” Boyd continued.
“The borders should be closed, and we're letting people into this country and putting them in hotel rooms and giving them expense cards, but you're not going to help American farmers. There's something terribly wrong with that picture.”
“We are American citizens and America's farmers should come first. That's my message to the president, and if I had the opportunity to tell him, I would tell him… he needs to put America's farmers first.”
