The February full moon is called the “Snow Moon” because it occurs during a period typically associated with snow in many parts of the Northern Hemisphere. For the same reason, it is sometimes called the “Storm Moon.”
You'll be able to see the snow moon on Saturday morning. This year's Snow Moon will be a full moon just one day before the moon reaches apogee, its farthest point from Earth in its orbit, meaning it will appear slightly smaller in the sky, creating what some are calling a “minimoon.”
