Alpine driver Esteban Ocon is looking forward to driving with the team in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, following the launch of his A424 Hypercar.
The hypercar program was launched alongside the French manufacturer's 2024 Formula 1 contender at their factory in Oxfordshire, making it one of the only car brands to have a presence in both premierships alongside Ferrari.
Ocon noted that he thinks the hypercar looks “huge” and offered some thoughts on whether he could see himself driving it in the future.
“The focus is always 2000% on Formula 1, but I believe that once one Formula 1 driver races at Le Mans during the start of the Formula 1 season, many more will do so, and I am waiting for that moment to see what happens.” Okon told media, including: Racing News 365.
Charles Leclerc has previously stated that he would like to race alongside his Formula 1 duties, if given the opportunity.
Ocon: I hope to see Mick in Formula One again
None of the drivers on the current Formula 1 grid will race at Le Mans this year, but there are a few former names including Antonio Giovinazzi, who won last year with Ferrari, Mick Schumacher and Nyck de Vries.
When asked about Schumacher joining the Alpine family, Ocon said: “It's great for the Alpine endurance team to have Mick.
“I think he brings a lot of experience, and he's obviously a very talented driver overall. I really hope they win Le Mans this year.
“I will support and encourage them, and I hope to see Mick in Formula 1 again in the future.”
