For those not yet familiar with Extreme E, the sport is an FIA-sanctioned off-road racing series in which electric cars, driven by one-man and one-woman teams, take to the remote corners of the affected planet. Due to climate change, with races in five endangered environments: rainforest, desert, coastal, arctic, and mountain.
The series was founded in 2018 by Spanish businessman Alejandro Agag and motor racing legend Gil de Ferran. The duo wanted to create a “narrative-driven adventure that could tell the story of climate change and inspire others to focus on change.” The idea inspired nature and adventure documentaries by French explorer Jacques Cousteau. The series was launched in 2019 using RMS St Helena as a floating base.
