Update: The Sisters and Jefferson school districts are closing for the day and the Culver and Redmond school districts are closing with a two-hour delay.
Happy Friday Central Oregon. The melted snow from yesterday that turned to ice overnight will likely be under the new snow that fell last night into this morning, and you can expect icy and dangerous roads in the area. Your morning commute can be risky so please be careful.
A winter weather advisory is in place for Central Oregon until 7 a.m. due to the possibility of another inch of snow resulting in slippery road conditions. Also, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 7 a.m. due to the possibility of 1-2 inches of snow along the eastern slopes of the Cascades including Sunriver and La Pine. Plan for hazardous road conditions.
Today brings cool temperatures, so not much melting will occur. Conditions will be mostly dry except for a slight chance of some light snow this morning and again early evening. The next bit of weather could arrive as early as tonight into tomorrow due to another low pressure system approaching in the central Pacific.
North winds in the 5-10 mph range will become easterly later this morning but will generally not be noticeable today.
Highs will be a little cooler than yesterday with low to mid temps in the 30s and overnight lows in the 20s across the High Desert.
