A focus group conducted by The New York Times revealed that a majority of independent voters are leaning toward former President Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
Although the sample size was small — the newspaper conducted lengthy interviews with 13 independent, undecided voters about Trump and President Joe Biden — it should provide a moment of pause for the president's re-election campaign.
Those who participated in the focus group seemed to indicate that, as moderates, they were willing to overlook the GOP nominee's brash personality in part because they believed he could rescue the faltering economy.
“Astonishingly, most respondents leaned toward Mr. Trump, even though they did not like his personality,” the Times wrote.
In fact, 11 out of 13 people were leaning toward Trump.
If independents are willing to abandon the noisy circus surrounding Trump in order to improve the country, Biden could be in big trouble.

Independent Voters: It's the economy, you idiot
While recent polls suggest that illegal immigration has replaced a fragile economy as Americans' No. 1 concern, this focus group of independent voters suggests it remains the most important factor when choosing between Trump and President Biden.
“Almost all voters (ages 22 to 64) were most concerned about the economy and how their groceries and other bills were so expensive,” the Times reported.
Of the 13 voters concerned, 12 said they would base their vote on the economy. 11 of them said they leaned toward Trump.
Other major issues uncovered by the group include the illegal immigration crisis at the border, concerns about the war between Israel and Gaza, and “hate” of aid to foreign countries.
When faced with the challenge of citing something positive about the economy in the past year, only one person in the group (which includes all ages and ethnicities) was able to raise their hand.
The moderator asked voters who they would choose at the ballot box if the presidential election were held today. Eleven hands were raised in support of Trump, including a woman who claimed she experienced more racism under the former president.
“Participants’ comments indicated that most did not feel they were in good hands with Mr. Biden or confident that they would be, using words like ‘senile,’ ‘inappropriate,’ and ‘disingenuous’ to describe him,” according to the New York Times. He writes. “While the group viewed Mr. Trump unfavorably, some people noted that the country was more prepared with him in office.”

The MSNBC Focus group on Black Barber Shop had similar results
Like the New York Times' independent voter focus group, another MSNBC-moderated discussion at a black barbershop yielded similar results, with some panelists stating that many African American voters are considering supporting former President Trump in the 2024 presidential election because of the economy.
Participants in a focus group for black barbershops held in Charleston, South Carolina, reported that under President Biden, they felt “broke,” while under Trump, “they had money.”

If anything, these focus groups should serve as a wake-up call for the Biden campaign and the Hollywood elites who support the president. Elites like Bill Maher, who recently claimed that groceries and gas aren't as expensive truly This height.
Maher's comment prompted fitness expert Jillian Michaels to respond, saying: “Buy some damn eggs!”
