Hollywood star Danica McKellar of The Wonder Years series is celebrating after successfully completing the challenge of reading the entire cover of the Bible in just one year.
McKellar opens up about reading the Bible
While walking the red carpet at the 31st Annual Movieguide Awards, McKellar told Fox News that she's on “round two now” after completing her goal.
“Doing something regularly is always a challenge, isn't it? Because you're busy,” said McKellar, 49. My life doesn't have a regular schedule, I shoot movies and then I don't shoot them, but I've found that if I just do two sessions a day for a little while, I can catch up, like after shooting a movie. “This is the most challenging.”
“The most rewarding thing is just getting to know God better and understanding some of the patterns and saying, 'Oh, the theme of ego versus humility' seems really strong throughout the whole story,” she continued. “Maybe we should pay attention to that.”
Another biblical theme that caught McKellar's attention was “the idea of forgiveness, [and] The Lord's Prayer.”
“This is obviously a very big deal, and we have to be careful because forgiving others who have wronged us is one of the hardest things a human being can do, and yet this is our job,” McKellar explained. “So, just seeing it all through the Bible over and over again was beautiful.”

McKellar finds God
McKellar has been open about not finding God until later in life thanks to her good friend Candace Cameron Bure of “Full House” and “Fuller House” fame.
“I've been committed to Christianity my whole life in one way or another, but I've never really made it work,” McKellar told Fox News in December of last year. “And my dear friend Candace Cameron Bure…she brought me to church. “All I can say is that something happened.”
“All I know is… I'm overwhelmed with such love and understanding,” she continued. “I've always been very biased against Christianity for various reasons, mostly because of the bad reputation it got for causing wars, and you think, 'Oh, Christians are these really judgmental people,' and all that religious stuff. The truth is, Jesus was anti-religious.” “He was anti-religious, and I didn’t even realize it.”
McKellar went on to say that after Cameron Bure took her to church to watch an “emotional play,” she “suddenly felt understood.”
“All I could always think about was there being a higher power and wanting to do the right thing, just because it's the right thing, when no one's watching, why does it matter, and it's all been brought into focus,” she added. “And I feel so lucky. I have this very recent memory of being a non-believer, and I have no judgment at all, I just want people to feel the love and peace that I feel right now.”

McKellar thanks Cameron Bure
Last year, McKellar directly thanked Cameron Bure during an appearance on her podcast
“Candace, I don't want to ignore the huge impact you've had on my life this year,” McKellar said. “I don't even know how to call it like friendship, it's more than that. Because of you helping me find my relationship with God and Jesus, it's been a revolution in my life. It's been a revelation in my life.”
Reading the entire Bible over many years is difficult enough, but finishing it in just one year is a truly significant accomplishment. God bless McKellar for doing this, and we hope she will continue to enjoy the Bible when she reads it again!
