Swifties. Beehive. The die-hard fans of some artists are so well-known that their names are part of popular culture. Another name for these fans is “stans” after that EminemThe classic “Stan” movie from 2000. That's why Eminem is now making a documentary that explores super fan culture.
Variety reported that Eminem will co-produce the film, which will be distributed by Paramount/MTV. The film has the working title Stans; According to Variety, it is a “revealing, provocative, and startling personal journey into the world of superfandom, told through the lens of one of the world's most popular and enduring artists, Eminem, and the fans who worship him.”
In a statement, director Em Paul Rosenberg And Stuart Barr “Stans will be an opportunity for us to flip the camera and ask the audience about being fans — and in some cases, fanatics,” says an employee of the rapper's Shady Films company.
They add: “This is a study of the relationship between fandom and artist through the lens of one of Eminem's greatest songs and one of the most important artists in the world.”
Although “Stan” did not have much success on the charts, it became one of Eminem's signature songs. Featuring vocal samples from DidoThe song “Thank You” tells the story of a die-hard fan named Stan who becomes increasingly agitated after he writes letters to Eminem and receives no response. He ended up tying his pregnant girlfriend to the trunk of his car and driving her off a bridge.
The song ends with Eminem writing a response to Stan urging him to get help, before ending up looking like the guy he just heard about on the news who drove his car off a bridge.
